What P2455 means
The official wording is DPF pressure sensor A circuit high. The sensor's signal voltage is above the highest figure the ECU will accept, which usually means an electrical fault, though a heavily blocked filter can push it there too.
A high DPF sensor signal can be a wiring fault, a failed sensor or a filter genuinely packed with soot, and each needs a different fix. A £100 + VAT diagnostic at your home or workplace tells you which one P2455 is pointing at.
| Fix | When it's the answer | Where it's done | Price | Road use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile diagnostics | First, to test the signal and compare it with the soot load | Your home or workplace | £100 + VAT | Yes |
| Wiring or connector repair | A short to the supply wire is pushing the signal up | Garage | Garage quote | Yes |
| New DPF pressure sensor | The sensor is reading high with the circuit healthy | Garage | Garage quote | Yes |
| DPF cleaning | Readings show a real soot blockage | Your home or workplace | £275 + VAT | Yes |
The official wording is DPF pressure sensor A circuit high. The sensor's signal voltage is above the highest figure the ECU will accept, which usually means an electrical fault, though a heavily blocked filter can push it there too.
Often the engine or DPF light is the only sign at first. Because the ECU now thinks the filter is badly blocked, it may try to regenerate too often or put the car into limp mode with no real loss of performance beforehand.
Short-term use is usually possible, but a vehicle that keeps regenerating burns extra fuel and can dilute its oil. If it's gone into limp mode, keep trips to the minimum until it's diagnosed.
Diagnostics is £100 + VAT, done where the car or van is parked.
We test the sensor circuit and compare its reading with the soot load the ECU has calculated.
If it's soot, we can clean the filter there and then for £275 + VAT. A sensor or wiring repair goes to a garage with our findings.
Wiring and sensors sit at the cheaper end. If the filter is blocked, a DPF clean is £275 + VAT, and the diagnostic shows which applies.
Yes. Left alone it can trigger constant regenerations and limp mode, and the warning light fails the MOT.
Not if the wiring is shorted or the filter is truly blocked. The new sensor would report the same high figure.
We diagnose it there and clean the filter on site if soot is the cause. Sensor and wiring repairs are garage work.
Yes, as the fix depends on whether the fault is electrical or a genuine blockage. Its opposite code is P2454, for a signal reading low.
Send us the registration and what warnings are on, and we'll confirm the price before anything goes in the diary.
