DPF cleaning at your home or workplace
A blocked diesel particulate filter brings on the DPF light, a flat engine and eventually limp mode. Our mobile DPF cleaning service clears the soot on site, usually in 60 to 90 minutes, for £275 + VAT.
- £275 + VAT for a full DPF clean
- Carried out where the vehicle is parked
- 60 to 90 minutes on most cars and vans
- Covering Greater Manchester and the North West
Signs your DPF is blocked
Most people find us once the dashboard has already started complaining. If two or more of these sound familiar, the filter is probably due a clean.
- The DPF warning light is on and stays on after a long run
- The engine feels flat pulling up hills or joining the motorway
- The car has gone into limp mode and won't rev past a certain point
- The cooling fan keeps running after you switch off, or the idle sits high, because it's trying to regenerate
- Fuel consumption has crept up for no obvious reason
- A scan has turned up codes such as P2002, P2463 or P242F
How our DPF cleaning works
A DPF traps soot from the exhaust and is meant to burn it off by itself in a process called regeneration. When short trips or an engine fault stop that happening, the soot packs in tighter until the filter can't clear itself.
We introduce a DPF cleaning solution that breaks down the hardened soot, then run a forced regeneration through diagnostic software. The engine raises exhaust temperatures under controlled conditions and burns the loosened deposits out, with the filter still fitted to the vehicle.

The readings come first
The technician reads the fault codes along with the soot and pressure figures from the filter, so you know the DPF is the problem before work begins.
Cleaning and regeneration
The cleaning solution goes in, then a forced regeneration burns the deposits out. Most cars and vans are finished within 60 to 90 minutes.
Codes cleared and rechecked
Fault codes are cleared, the readings are checked again and the warning light should be off before the technician leaves.

Cleaning is the right first step for a soot-clogged filter. It can't remove ash, which builds up over the filter's life, or repair a cracked one.
If the readings show the DPF is beyond cleaning, we'll tell you before any work starts.
Why DPFs keep blocking
A clean clears the filter, so it pays to know what blocked it in the first place and stop it happening again a few months later.
Short journeys
Town trips and school runs rarely get the exhaust hot enough for a full regeneration, so soot builds up faster than it burns off.
A faulty pressure sensor
The differential pressure sensor tells the ECU how full the filter is. If it reads wrong, regenerations happen at the wrong time or not at all.
EGR and injector faults
A sticking EGR valve or a leaking injector sends extra soot down the exhaust and fills the filter early.
The wrong engine oil
Diesels with a DPF need low-ash oil. The wrong grade leaves ash behind, and ash can't be burnt away.
Interrupted regenerations
Switching off halfway through a regeneration, time after time, leaves the job unfinished and the filter gradually fuller.
If we spot an underlying fault during the clean, we'll point it out, and a mobile diagnostic check can track down the cause.

P2002 means the filter isn't trapping soot as well as the ECU expects. P2463 points to excessive soot, which is the classic sign that a clean is due.
P242F flags a restriction from ash, which needs checking carefully because ash doesn't burn. Pressure sensor codes such as P2453 often trace back to the sensor or its pipes.
DPF cleaning for vans and fleets
Delivery vans and trade vehicles that spend all day in stop-start traffic are the hardest on a DPF. We clean Transits, Sprinters, Vivaros and Transporters at your yard or depot, so a van can be back out on the next job the same day.
Fleet operators with several vans needing regular DPF work can open a trade account with us.

How much does DPF cleaning cost?
Our mobile DPF clean is £275 + VAT. That price includes coming out to you, the cleaning solution and the forced regeneration.
Will cleaning fix my DPF warning light?
If the light is on because of soot, a clean and forced regeneration should clear it. If the cause is ash, a damaged filter or a failed sensor, the checks will show it and we'll explain your options.
Is a DPF flush different from a DPF clean?
A flush usually means pushing fluid through a filter that's been taken off the vehicle. Our clean is done with the DPF still fitted, using a cleaning solution followed by a forced regeneration.
Can I use a DPF cleaner additive from a shop instead?
Fuel additives can help a lightly loaded filter on a car that gets regular motorway runs. Once the warning light is on and the soot has packed in, an additive in the tank rarely shifts it.
How do I stop my DPF blocking again?
A steady run of 20 minutes or more at motorway speed every week or two helps the filter regenerate. Use low-ash oil to the manufacturer's spec and get EGR or injector faults fixed promptly.
Is it legal to remove a DPF instead?
Removing or disabling a DPF on a road vehicle is illegal in the UK and can fail the MOT. Our DPF delete is for off-road and export use only, so cleaning is the answer for a car or van used on the road. Read Is DPF removal legal?
