DPF cleaning across Liverpool
Worried the DPF light means paying for a new filter? Every visit in Liverpool starts with the fault codes and the soot and pressure readings, so you know what's wrong before any cleaning begins. A mobile clean is £275 + VAT, including coming out to your home or workplace.
Readings before we clean
Fault codes and filter readings
The technician plugs in and reads the stored codes along with the soot load and pressure figures from the DPF.
A verdict before any work
If the numbers show soot, we clean it. If they point to ash, a cracked filter or a fault somewhere else, you hear that first.
Clean and forced regeneration
A cleaning solution goes in to break down the packed soot, then a forced regeneration burns it out with the filter still fitted.
Codes cleared and readings retaken
We clear the codes and take the readings again, so you can see the change before the technician leaves.
Why DPFs keep blocking
A clean clears the soot, but if whatever caused it is still there, the light tends to come back.
Lots of short trips
The exhaust has to stay hot for a while to burn soot off, and short runs end before a regeneration can finish.
A pressure sensor reading wrong
The ECU relies on this sensor to judge how full the filter is, so a faulty one starts regenerations at the wrong moment or not at all.
Too much soot from the engine
A sticking EGR valve or a leaking injector sends more soot into the filter than it can deal with.
Oil that isn't low-ash
Diesels with a DPF need low-ash oil. Any other grade leaves ash in the filter, and ash won't burn off.
Regenerations cut short
Switching off part way through a regeneration, again and again, leaves a little more soot behind each time.
If we spot one of these during the visit, we'll tell you, and a diagnostic check at £100 + VAT can track it down.

Get in TouchVans and work vehicles in Liverpool
Vans doing stop-start work all day are among the hardest on a DPF, because the exhaust rarely stays hot for long enough. We clean them at your yard or depot in Liverpool between jobs, and we'll do several vehicles on one visit where we can.
If your business runs a few vans that need regular DPF work, a trade account keeps the booking side easy.

Checks before any work

Straight advice when a clean won't help
If a clean won't fix it, we say so before starting and talk you through what the readings show.
Is it definitely the DPF, or something else?
A warning light, a flat engine and limp mode can come from other faults too. The soot and pressure readings show whether the filter is blocked before we touch anything.
Why does my DPF keep blocking?
Something is usually stopping it regenerating, such as short trips, a faulty pressure sensor, EGR or injector faults, or the wrong oil. We'll point out anything we find while we're with you in Liverpool.
Can you tell if the filter is full of ash?
The readings give a strong indication. Ash builds up over the life of the filter and can't be burnt off, so if ash is the cause, you'll know before any cleaning starts.
Can I have the DPF removed instead?
Our DPF delete is a software change for off-road and export use only. On a road car or van it's illegal in the UK to remove or disable the DPF, and the MOT checks for one that's missing or tampered with. Read Is DPF removal legal?
What happens if I ignore the DPF light?
The soot keeps building until the engine goes into limp mode, and a filter left too long may end up beyond cleaning. A new DPF is often over £1,000 fitted, depending on the vehicle, against £275 + VAT for a clean.
