Audi Q7 remapping

A Q7 or SQ7 engine map costs £275 + VAT, and that one price covers Stage 1, Stage 2 and economy. Automatic gearboxes can be mapped as well, either for £195 + VAT on their own or as part of a £440 + VAT package. We price your car from its registration before anyone books a visit.

What remapping changes on the Q7

Audi sets up the Q7's software to cover every country it sells in, with margins for poor fuel and extreme heat. A remap rewrites settings such as boost pressure, fuelling and ignition or injection timing, so a big seven-seater picks up more readily when it's loaded with people and luggage.

On a diesel Q7 the gain tends to show up as stronger pull from low revs, which helps with towing and overtaking. An SQ7 owner is usually after sharper response, and we'll say which map fits once we know how the car is used.

Is it worth it on a Q7?

Turbo engines respond best to remapping, so a turbo diesel or turbo petrol Q7 gets good value from a £275 + VAT map. If yours turns out to be an engine with little to gain, we'll tell you on the phone and you won't pay for a visit.

Stage 2 only makes sense when the parts it relies on are already on the car. A Q7 with a standard intake and intercooler should start at Stage 1.

Insurance and warranty

Your insurer needs to know about the remap, as it's a change to the engine. If the Q7 is still under Audi's warranty, the dealer can refuse engine or gearbox claims after a remap. Our guide to remaps, insurance and warranty covers what to ask both of them.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stage 2 an option on the Q7?

It is, provided the supporting hardware is already fitted. Tell us which parts the car has when you book, and the Stage 2 map is written to suit that list. Our Stage 2 remap page explains what usually goes on first.

Is the engine and gearbox package worth it on a Q7?

The package is £440 + VAT, which is £30 less than booking the engine and gearbox maps on separate days. The gearbox map is matched to the engine changes, so shift points and torque limits suit the new output.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a remapped Q7?

Yes. Insurers class a remap as a modification, and an undeclared one can give them a reason to turn down a claim.

Will a remap affect my Q7's warranty?

It can. Audi may decline engine or gearbox claims on a remapped car, so check your warranty terms or speak to the dealer if the Q7 is still covered.
