Mazda CX-5 remapping

A CX-5 carrying the family and their kit can feel like it needs more in reserve, and a diesel doing long runs can always use better mpg. A remap targets one or the other, written at home or work after a fault check.

Reasons to remap a CX-5

  • More pull for a loaded car or a trailer
  • Fewer downshifts on motorway inclines
  • Better economy on a high-mileage diesel

What a remap changes on a CX-5

The remap adjusts Mazda's fuelling, timing and, on turbo engines, boost settings for UK conditions. A turbocharged CX-5 gains the most, and if yours has little to gain, we'll tell you from the registration.

Work worth pairing with a CX-5 remap

  • Gearbox map. An automatic CX-5 can have its gearbox mapped for £195 + VAT.
  • Diagnostics. If a light's on, we start with a diagnostic check.

What we do about it

We read the codes, save the Mazda software and write a Stage 1 or economy map for £275 + VAT, usually within 60 to 90 minutes. Faults are flagged before any change.

Frequently asked questions

Will I notice the difference in my CX-5?

On a turbo engine, yes, mostly when overtaking or pulling away loaded.

Can a remap improve my CX-5's mpg?

An economy map on a diesel CX-5 can help on longer journeys, but we won't promise a number.

Should faults be fixed before the CX-5 is remapped?

Yes. We'd rather fix a fault than map over it.

Can a remap cause problems on a CX-5?

Not on a healthy engine, and we keep the original file in case it's needed.
