What a remap changes on the Octavia
An Octavia's standard map is set cautiously so it can run anywhere. Remapping resets boost, fuelling and timing for UK conditions, so a vRS 245 or vRS TDI feels stronger out of junctions and through the gears.
On a 2.0 TDI estate used for business mileage, the gain is extra pull when loaded and the option of an economy map that's set up for fuel use.
Is it worth it on an Octavia?
Octavias with turbo petrol or TDI engines make good use of a remap, and that includes the vRS. If yours has a small non-turbo petrol, there's little to gain and we'll say so.
For a vRS on standard hardware, Stage 1 is the right map. Stage 2 is for cars where the parts have already been upgraded.
Insurance and warranty

Is Stage 2 an option on the Octavia?
On a vRS with the supporting parts fitted, yes. Send a list of upgrades when you book, and see the Stage 2 remap page for what's usually needed.
Is the engine and gearbox package worth it on an Octavia?
For a DSG or automatic Octavia, it saves £30 on booking separately. It also means the gearbox is set up to handle the extra torque from the engine map.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a remapped Octavia?
Yes. Any remap counts as a modification, and leaving it undeclared could cause trouble if you ever need to claim.
Will a remap affect my Octavia's warranty?
Possibly. Skoda can refuse engine or gearbox claims on a car with altered software, so look at the warranty terms first.
