What a remap changes on the Insignia

The Insignia is often a long-distance car, and a remap gives its engine more torque at the revs it sits at on the motorway. On a 2.0 CDTi or BiTurbo, that means the car holds top gear more easily and overtakes need less planning.

The VXR and 2.8 V6 turbo can be mapped for a sharper response, while an economy map suits a CDTi that's all about miles.

Is it worth it on an Insignia?

If your Insignia has a turbo petrol or turbo diesel engine, it should get plenty from a £275 + VAT map. Fleet and ex-fleet CDTi cars on big mileage tend to suit the economy option best.

If your Insignia has a small non-turbo petrol, we'll tell you a remap isn't good value before you book.

Insurance and warranty

Tell your insurer about the remap, as it's classed as a modification. Ex-fleet Insignias may be out of warranty, but if yours is still covered, check whether altered software affects engine or gearbox claims. Our guide to remaps, insurance and warranty covers the detail.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stage 2 an option on the Insignia?

On an Insignia VXR or V6 turbo with the right parts, yes. Send your list of upgrades and we'll write the Stage 2 map around it.

Is the engine and gearbox package worth it on an Insignia?

For an automatic, it's £440 + VAT against £470 + VAT if booked separately, and the gearbox map stops the shifts lagging behind the engine's extra torque.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a remapped Insignia?

Yes. Insurers treat a remap as a change to the car, and not declaring it could put a future claim at risk.

Will a remap affect my Insignia's warranty?

If the car is still under warranty, it could. Vauxhall may decline engine or gearbox claims on a remapped Insignia, so check first.
