What Stage 2 Involves on the E70 X5
X5 E70 stage 2 pairs the ECU calibration with EGR delete and an intercooler upgrade. These modifications remove the two main restrictions that prevent the N57 from producing more at stage 1 level. Once the hardware is in place, the calibration is written to take full advantage of the improved airflow and thermal management.
The difference between stage 1 and stage 2 on the E70 X5 is significant. Torque delivery becomes more consistent under sustained load, and the power increase is noticeable from lower in the rev range.
