Eco remap for better fuel economy
An eco remap retunes your engine to use less fuel on the same journeys, and the saving grows with every mile you cover. We carry out each economy remap at your home or workplace for £275 + VAT.
How an economy remap saves fuel
The map adds torque low in the rev range, where a diesel spends most of its time. With more pull at 1,500 to 2,500rpm, you can change up sooner and hold motorway speed on a lighter throttle.
Less pedal means less fuel injected. Turbo diesels respond best, which is why the mpg remap is a favourite with van fleets and anyone covering big annual mileage.
Who an eco remap suits best
High-mileage commuters
If you're doing 20,000 miles a year or more, a small mpg improvement turns into a noticeable saving on your fuel card.
Van fleets
Every van on the same route uses less fuel, and we can map a whole fleet on site at your depot.
Towing and caravans
Extra low-down torque means the engine labours less with a trailer behind it, so it isn't drinking fuel up every hill.
Taxi and private hire
Cars that spend all day in traffic and on short hops benefit from smoother pulling at low revs.
Eco remap or Stage 1?
Both maps add torque, but they spend it differently. A Stage 1 map chases the biggest power gain, whilst an eco remap shapes the extra torque around low revs and steady cruising.
If mpg matters more than outright speed, choose eco. If you want the car to feel quicker and you're happy to keep fuel use about the same, look at a Stage 1 remap. Both cost £275 + VAT.
What affects your mpg gain
Results vary from car to car, so be wary of anyone who promises a fixed figure before seeing your vehicle. These are the things that make the biggest difference.
- Your right foot, as the saving only appears if you use the extra torque to change up earlier
- The kind of journeys you do, with long steady runs showing the most improvement
- Engine condition, because a blocked filter or dirty intake costs fuel before any remap
- How much weight the vehicle carries day to day
Fleet economy remapping
For a business running several vans, fuel is one of the largest running costs. We can remap vans at your yard between jobs or at the end of a shift, so nobody loses a working day.
Garages and fleet managers can open a trade account for regular work. See our trade and partners page or the van remapping page for more.
What eco remap customers say
Does an eco remap reduce power?
No. Most economy maps give you a little more torque and power than standard. The extra is placed low in the rev range for economy, so the car feels stronger at everyday speeds.
How much fuel will I save?
It depends on the engine, the vehicle and how you use it. Long steady motorway runs on a turbo diesel show the best results, and short trips in town show the least. We won't quote a number we can't stand behind.
Can you do an economy remap on a van?
Yes, and vans that cover big mileage are ideal candidates. Many 2018-on Ford Transit, Custom and Ranger models use the locked SID212 ECU, which we take out and have unlocked and mapped off site in 7 days for £1,200 + VAT.
How long does an eco remap take to pay for itself?
Divide £275 + VAT by what you save on fuel each month. On a high-mileage diesel the sums add up quickly, whilst a car doing 5,000 miles a year may never quite get there. Our guide on whether remapping is worth it helps you weigh it up.
Do I need to tell my insurer about an eco remap?
Yes. Even though it's aimed at economy, it's still a change to the engine's software and counts as a modification. Read more in our insurance and warranty guide.
