DPF cleaning for Mercedes

Every diesel particulate filter relies on regular regenerations, and those need a warm engine and a steady run. Short journeys, a failing differential pressure sensor, EGR or injector faults and oil reaching the exhaust can all stop them finishing.

Vans that idle on site and stop and start all day are hard on DPFs, which is worth bearing in mind with a Vito or Sprinter. We read the codes before cleaning, so the cause is found as well as the soot.

Why do DPFs block on diesel Mercedes models?

Regenerations that never finish are the usual reason. Town use, idling and faults with sensors, the EGR or injectors all leave soot in the filter. See our blocked DPF guide for more on the causes.

Can you delete the DPF on a Mercedes?

We can, for £220 + VAT, but only on vehicles used off-road or exported. A road-going Mercedes without a working DPF fails the MOT, which our DPF removal guide explains.
