Is it worth it on a Discovery?
The delete avoids paying for a valve that can clog again. If you'd rather fit a new valve, a diagnostic check makes sure it's the right part.
If the cause is a sensor or wiring, we'll tell you before you buy a valve.
An EGR delete on a Discovery costs £220 + VAT, carried out at your home, yard or workplace. The alternative is a new valve from a garage. Send the registration and we'll price it.
| Option | Price | Where |
|---|---|---|
| EGR delete | £220 + VAT | At your home, yard or workplace |
| New EGR valve | Depends on the vehicle, plus fitting | At a garage |
Diagnostics cost £100 + VAT if you'd like the valve confirmed as the fault first. We don't clean EGR valves.
With the EGR switched off in the ECU, no exhaust gas is fed back into the intake, so a sticking valve can no longer cause rough running or limp mode. The EGR codes are cleared as part of the job.
We work on the Discovery 3, Discovery 4 and Discovery 5. If you're also weighing up a remap for your Discovery, our Discovery remapping page covers it.

A diagnostic check confirms the valve is at fault first. From there, the £220 + VAT delete takes the EGR out of the equation, while a garage-fitted valve keeps the system working.
Not on a Discovery that's used on the road. We only delete the EGR on Discoverys used off-road, such as on a farm or private land, or going for export, and our guide on whether an EGR delete is legal sets out where the line is.
Yes, on a Discovery with a DPF we can do both on one visit, with the DPF delete adding £220 + VAT.
Given time it can, as the gas flowing through it still carries soot and oil vapour. Plenty of short runs make it happen sooner.
Pass on the registration and the symptoms, and we'll confirm a price and a time. Every price is on our pricing page, and other models are on our Land Rover EGR page.
