Seat Leon DPF problems and cleaning
A diesel particulate filter warning light on a Leon means the filter is struggling to burn off its soot. Once the codes are read at your home or work, the filter can be cleaned there and then for £275 + VAT.

Why the Leon's DPF blocks
A diesel Leon that mostly does short journeys rarely heats its filter enough to finish a regeneration. Soot keeps building until the ECU warns you.
A sticking EGR valve, a leaking injector or a faulty pressure sensor can add to it, which is why we read the data rather than just cleaning.
What we do about it
Diagnostics cost £100 + VAT and show whether the filter, a sensor or another fault is behind the warning. If it's soot, we clean the filter in place for £275 + VAT with a cleaning solution and a forced regeneration.
A DPF delete is an option too, at £220 + VAT.
Why does my Leon's DPF keep blocking?
Short trips that don't let regenerations finish are the usual reason. If it blocks again soon after a clean, there's likely a fault feeding it extra soot.
What does the DPF warning mean on a Leon?
The ECU has judged the filter to be close to full. It's the moment to get it cleaned, before limp mode sets in.
Can I keep using my Leon with the DPF light on?
For short spells, but more town trips will only add soot. If the car loses power, book a check and keep journeys to a minimum.
Will a forced regeneration clear the Leon's filter?
Sometimes, if the soot level is fairly light. Hard-packed soot often stops a regeneration partway, so our clean softens it first.
Who can have a DPF delete on a Leon?
