Vauxhall Vivaro AdBlue problems and delete
If the AdBlue light on your Vivaro stays on after filling, or a countdown has started, the van has a fault that won't clear by itself. We find it where the van is parked, and we can delete the AdBlue system for £330 + VAT.
AdBlue warning signs on a Vivaro
These are the warnings that most often mean the SCR system needs looking at.
- The AdBlue light coming back on, or never going off, after a top-up
- A countdown in miles before the engine will no longer restart
- An "anti-pollution fault" or emissions fault message, if your Vivaro shows one
- Lower power than usual, with or without the engine management light
What causes AdBlue faults on a Vivaro
A Vivaro's AdBlue system relies on a pump, a heated tank, a dosing injector and NOx sensors either side of the catalyst. Any one of them can fail, and dried AdBlue crystals can block the injector or its supply line.
Fluid that's old, diluted or contaminated can bring a warning on as well, even with nothing broken. Our AdBlue warning light guide goes through the everyday causes.
Fault codes you might see on a Vivaro
| Code | What it points to |
|---|---|
| P203F | The ECU reads the AdBlue level as too low, which can be a sensor fault on a full tank |
| P2200 | A problem in the NOx sensor circuit |
| P20EE | NOx isn't being reduced as well as it should be |
We check the live data that goes with each code, so a faulty sensor isn't mistaken for a failed pump.
What we do about it
A diagnostic visit costs £100 + VAT and tells you which part of the Vivaro's system has failed. We don't repair AdBlue systems, so a repair means that part being replaced by a dealer or SCR specialist.
The AdBlue delete is £330 + VAT and switches the system off in the ECU.
What does the AdBlue warning mean on a Vivaro?
Either the tank is low or the system has found a fault. If a fresh fill doesn't put the light out within a short run, the Vivaro has a fault that needs reading.
What happens when the Vivaro's countdown hits zero?
The van will run until you switch off and then refuse to restart. Keep the remaining miles for getting somewhere safe, and tell us where it'll be.
Why is the AdBlue light still on after filling the Vivaro?
The light only resets by itself if a low level was the whole story. When it stays lit, there's a stored fault behind it, from a sensor reading wrongly to a pump that can't build pressure.
Is it the pump, the heater or a sensor on a Vivaro?
The warning looks the same for all three. Codes and live readings taken on site show which one has failed before you buy a part.
Is an AdBlue delete allowed on a Vivaro used for work?
Not if the van is driven on UK roads, as the Vivaro delete is for off-road and export use only. Our guide to whether an AdBlue delete is legal explains why.
Sort the AdBlue problem on your Vivaro
Send the registration, the warning on the dash and any countdown mileage, and we'll book a time at your yard, site or home. The Vauxhall AdBlue page covers the Movano, Combo and other models.
