Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 remapping

An A4 that labours on long climbs, or an S4 that feels flat for what it is, can often be sorted with a new engine map. We remap the A4, S4 and RS4 at your home or work for £275 + VAT, with every stored code checked first.

Why owners book an A4 remap

  • A 2.0 TDI estate that carries the family and luggage feels short of pull when loaded
  • Motorway mileage is high, and an economy map could help the A4 use less diesel
  • Your S4 or S4 TDI feels softer than you expected when you put your foot down
  • An RS4 owner wants crisper response, or crackles on the overrun
  • A 35 TFSI or 2.0 TFSI petrol hesitates when you ask for a quick overtake

What a remap changes on the A4 range

Audi's standard map has to suit every country and fuel the car might meet. A remap revises boost, fuel and timing for UK conditions, and on an A4 that usually brings fuller pull from low revs and fewer kick-downs at motorway speed.

The S4 and RS4 respond in a sharper way, with quicker throttle pick-up being the most obvious change.

Work worth pairing with an A4 remap

Gearbox mapping

If your A4, S4 or RS4 has an automatic or DSG gearbox, it can be mapped for £195 + VAT to suit the new torque, or £440 + VAT alongside the engine map.

A carbon clean beforehand

Intake carbon on a high-mileage diesel A4 can blunt a new map. A carbon clean costs £125 + VAT and can be done before a Stage 1.

Fault finding first

If there's a warning on the dash, book diagnostics for £100 + VAT so the fault is fixed before the car is mapped.

What we do about it

The visit opens with a full code read on your A4, and the original software is saved before anything is written. We then load a Stage 1, Stage 2 or economy map for £275 + VAT, and pops and bangs on the S4 or RS4 are priced per car.

After the map is in, the codes are checked again and we explain what has been adjusted. Read more on our ECU remapping page.

Frequently asked questions

SGR Automotive van parked beside a customer's car
Will a remapped A4 feel different in everyday use?

Usually from the first junction, because the car picks up more willingly from low revs. On the motorway, it holds top gear on inclines more readily.

Can a remap improve my A4's mpg?

On a diesel A4, an economy map is designed to do that. Real savings depend on your mileage and the roads you use, so we won't promise a figure.

Should faults be fixed before the A4 is remapped?

Always. A new map won't cure a fault, and it can make one harder to trace, so we read the codes first and flag anything that needs a repair.

Can a remap cause problems on an A4?

On a healthy A4 with parts in good order, a well-written map shouldn't cause trouble. Worn clutches or existing faults are the usual risk, and we'll check before going ahead.
