BMW 5 Series remapping
Your 5 Series is remapped outside your home or in the office car park, and it's usually done within 60 to 90 minutes. There's no need to arrange a lift or a courtesy car.
How a visit for your 5 Series works
Share the registration
We confirm which engine your 5 Series has, whether that's a 520d, 530d, 535d or 540i, and quote £275 + VAT for a Stage 1, Stage 2 or economy map.
Pick the location
Choose a home or work address anywhere in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire or Huddersfield.
The map goes on
We read stored faults, save the BMW's factory file and write the new map with the car parked.
Before we leave
The codes are checked again and we explain what the new map does.
About the 5 Series remap
On a big diesel saloon or Touring like the 530d, a remap brings more torque in the range you use on motorways and A roads, so the car holds its gear for longer. A 520d covering heavy mileage may be better on an economy map.
The 540i petrol gets a sharper throttle and quicker response. If your 5 Series has an automatic gearbox, a gearbox remap can be added for £195 + VAT, or £440 + VAT with the engine map.
At home or at work
A home visit works on your driveway or the road outside, as long as the car is parked safely. If it's easier to do it during the working day, a staff or company car park is fine once whoever runs it has said yes.
We'll need the keys at the start and the end of the job. You can carry on with your day in between.
Why book SGR
Because the work happens where the car already is, a 5 Series remap costs you an hour or so of the car's time and nothing more. Most take 60 to 90 minutes, and we're insured to £2 million.
If a warning light is showing, same-day diagnostic visits are often possible, and we'll fix the fault before mapping.
Reviews
Can you remap my 5 Series at work?
Yes. If the car sits in a car park during the day and your employer is happy for us to be on site, we can map it there.
Do you need to see the 5 Series before quoting?
We don't. The registration gives us the engine and ECU details we need, so the price is confirmed before the visit.
What do I need to have ready for a 5 Series remap?
Just the car, its keys and a safe spot for it to sit for 60 to 90 minutes. Mention any aftermarket parts when you book, as they change which map suits.
Can the 5 Series go back to standard?
Yes, because the factory software is saved before we write anything. It can be reloaded later if you choose. Restoring the original map costs extra, and we can quote it up front.
