At your address we read the fault codes along with the soot load and pressure figures from the filter.

If the readings show soot, a cleaning solution goes into the filter and a forced regeneration burns it off.

Codes are cleared and the readings taken again, so you can see the difference for yourself.

We clean the filter with it still bolted to the vehicle. A cleaning solution softens the packed soot, then a forced regeneration heats the filter until it burns away. Cleaning won't shift ash or repair a cracked filter, and if the readings point that way, you'll hear before any work begins. With a new DPF often over £1,000 fitted, depending on the vehicle, it's worth trying a £275 + VAT clean when the soot readings say it will work.

What we need from you on the day

Have the keys ready and make sure we can get to the vehicle, whether it's on the driveway or in a works car park. For a yard or depot, check with the site manager first that the job can be done there.

You're free to carry on with your day while we work, and we'll find you at the end to go through the readings. If a countdown, limp mode or any other warning has appeared alongside the DPF light, mention it when you book so the technician knows what to expect.

Can you clean the DPF at my workplace in Manchester?
