P2452 DPF pressure sensor A circuit

P2452 comes back because the ECU checks the DPF pressure sensor's circuit from the moment the ignition goes on, and a broken wire or failed sensor is still there after a reset. We test the circuit at your home, yard or depot and tell you which part to fix.

Why P2452 comes back after clearing

The official wording is DPF pressure sensor A circuit, which points to the sensor's electrical signal itself rather than a reading that's out of range. Clearing the code leaves the wiring and sensor exactly as they were.

Because the circuit is checked constantly, P2452 often reappears before you've left the yard. If it only returns now and then, a loose connection that shifts with vibration is the usual suspect.

The usual causes behind P2452

CauseHow it's checked
Failed DPF pressure sensorSignal voltage compared with the expected figure at rest
Damaged or melted wiring near the exhaustVisual check along the loom and circuit tests
Corroded or loose sensor plugConnector inspection and a wiggle test with live data on
Sensor supply or earth faultSupply voltage and earth checks
Diesel particulate filter before and after cleaning

Symptoms

  • An engine or DPF light that returns straight after clearing
  • Regenerations stopping or happening at odd times
  • Limp mode on some vehicles, as the filter can't be monitored
  • A fault that comes and goes over rough surfaces

Using the vehicle with P2452 showing

The vehicle usually runs normally to begin with, but the ECU has lost its view of the filter. Soot can build up without the usual regenerations, so leaving it for weeks risks a blocked DPF on top of the sensor fault.

Vans and fleets with P2452

DPF sensor wiring on vans sits close to the exhaust and takes a battering from heat and spray. We check vans at your yard or depot between jobs, so the fault is found without a trip to the garage.

If your business has regular work for us, our trade and partners page explains how a trade account works.

How we stop P2452 coming back

Sensor circuit diagnosis, £100 + VAT

We test the sensor's supply, earth and signal and check the loom for heat damage. You'll know whether it's the sensor or the wiring, ready for your garage to fix.

DPF cleaning if soot has built up, £275 + VAT

If the fault has let the filter fill with soot, readings show it and we can clean it on site once the sensor is sorted, with a forced regeneration to finish.

Remap great loads better turbo lag has gone now

Frequently asked questions

SGR Automotive van parked beside a customer's car
Why does P2452 come back after it's been cleared?

The circuit fault is still there, and the ECU checks the sensor signal all the time, so the code is stored again almost straight away.

Can a remap cause P2452?

No. P2452 is an electrical fault in the sensor circuit, which a remap doesn't affect. A properly set-up remap leaves the DPF monitoring in place.

Can another fault set off P2452?

A supply fault that also feeds other sensors can trigger it, so several sensor codes at once point to a shared feed. Related codes such as P2454 and P2455 help narrow it down.

Can you check P2452 on our vans at the depot?

Yes. Let us know how many vans are affected and we'll test each one where it's parked.

What should I tell you when I book for P2452?

The registration, the full code, whether the fault comes and goes, and any recent exhaust or DPF work, as plugs are often disturbed then.

Stop P2452 coming back

Book a fault check and we'll trace the sensor circuit fault at home, at work or at the depot.
