Remapping in Liverpool for £275 + VAT

An engine remap in Liverpool costs £275 + VAT and gives you stronger pulling, often a little more mpg on diesels, or a van that copes better with weight on board. We do the work at your home or workplace, and a gearbox map can be added on the same visit.

What changes afterwards

A remapped engine answers the accelerator more quickly and pulls harder through each gear. Overtaking takes less effort, and you'll find yourself changing down less often when the car is loaded up.

Vans notice it most with a full load or a trailer behind them, where the extra torque means fewer gear changes. On diesels the same torque often brings a small mpg gain, and an economy map leans further that way for high-mileage cars.

Things to check before a remap

Four quick checks before booking save trouble later on.

  • Let your insurer know about the remap, since it's classed as a modification. Our guide on remaps, insurance and warranty explains why it matters.
  • Read the warranty terms if the manufacturer still covers the car, as a remap can affect claims on related parts.
  • Get existing faults sorted first. We read the codes before mapping, and a diagnostic check is £100 + VAT if something needs tracking down.
  • Mention any starting or battery trouble when you book, since a weak battery can interrupt the ECU while the new map goes on.

How it works

A quote from your registration

Send it over and we'll confirm which map suits the vehicle and what it costs.

Checks and a saved copy

At your address, the technician reads the fault codes and saves the original software before changing anything.

New map and handover

The map is written, the engine is checked for codes, and we go through the changes with you.

Why book SGR in Liverpool

Our remap prices are published on the site, and you'll know yours from the registration before anyone comes out. Tell us what the vehicle is used for when you send it, and we'll suggest the map that fits.

The original software is read off the ECU and saved before anything changes, so the car can be put back to standard if you ever need it to be. If you want it back to standard later, that's a separate charge we'll quote first. We're also insured to £2 million for work carried out at your address.

Frequently asked questions about remapping in Liverpool

SGR Automotive van parked outside a customer's house
How much does a remap cost in Liverpool?

Stage 1, Stage 2, economy and van remaps are all £275 + VAT in Liverpool. A gearbox map is £195 + VAT, and pops and bangs or speed limiter removal are quoted per vehicle.

Is the engine and gearbox package cheaper than booking both?

Yes. Together, an engine remap and a gearbox map cost £440 + VAT, which is £30 less than paying for each one separately. Both go on during the same visit.

Stage 1 or Stage 2: which is worth it for my car?

If the engine is standard, Stage 1 is the right map. Stage 2 only makes sense once parts such as the intercooler, intake or exhaust have been upgraded, and the price is £275 + VAT either way.

Will an economy remap pay for itself?

That depends on how many miles you cover. The higher your annual mileage, the sooner a small mpg gain adds up, which is why economy maps suit work vans and company cars best.

Does my insurer need to know about a remap?

Yes. Insurers treat a remap as a modification, so let yours know before or straight after the work is done.
