Toyota Corolla remapping

ECU tuning on a Corolla costs £275 + VAT for a Stage 1, Stage 2 or economy map. Diesels such as the 2.0 D-4D are the usual candidates, and we check every car from its registration before quoting. That way you'll know whether a remap is worth it on yours before you pay a penny.

What ECU tuning changes on the Corolla

A Corolla's factory software is written to suit every market Toyota sells into. ECU tuning adjusts fuelling, timing and, on turbo engines, boost, so the car pulls more readily at the revs you use day to day.

On a diesel doing long runs, the map can be set up for economy, which keeps the engine working less hard at a cruise.

Is it worth it on a Corolla?

It depends on the engine. Turbo diesels and turbo petrols respond best, while a small non-turbo petrol gains very little for the money, and we'll tell you which group yours falls into.

If you'd rather not spend £275 + VAT for a small change, we'll say so before booking.

Insurance and warranty

A remapped Corolla needs declaring to your insurer as a modification. If your Corolla is still under Toyota's warranty, engine or gearbox claims could be turned down. Our remap insurance and warranty guide explains more.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stage 2 an option on the Corolla?

Only if supporting parts have been fitted, and on most Corollas Stage 1 or economy makes more sense. Tell us about any upgrades and we'll advise.

Is the engine and gearbox package worth it on a Corolla?

If yours is an automatic with an engine worth mapping, the £440 + VAT package saves £30 on two separate bookings. We'll confirm from the registration whether both maps are available.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a remapped Corolla?

Yes. A remap is a modification in your insurer's eyes, and an undeclared one could cost you a claim.

Will a remap affect my Corolla's warranty?

It may. Toyota can reject engine or gearbox claims on a remapped car, so check your cover first.
