VW Amarok remapping
An Amarok hauling a full bed or a heavy trailer can feel like it's working hard on every hill. A remap gives it firmer pull where you need it, and we write it at your yard, site or home after reading the codes.
Reasons to remap an Amarok
- It's regularly towing a horsebox, plant trailer or caravan
- The load bed is often full and the pickup labours pulling away on a slope
- You want fewer gear changes on motorway inclines
- A high-mileage 2.0 or V6 Amarok could do with better mpg
What a remap changes on an Amarok
VW leaves room in the factory software so one map fits every country and fuel grade. Remapping sets the boost, fuelling and timing for the jobs your Amarok does here, so the extra torque comes in lower and the pickup feels less strained under load.
The same process can be aimed at economy, which suits an Amarok that spends more time on the motorway than on site.
Work worth pairing with an Amarok remap
- Gearbox map. If your Amarok has an automatic gearbox, add a gearbox map for £195 + VAT, or book both for £440 + VAT.
- Carbon clean. A sooty intake on a high-mileage diesel can be sorted with a carbon clean for £125 + VAT before the map goes on.
- Diagnostics first. If there's a warning on the dash, our diagnostic check finds the cause before we touch the software.
What we do about it
We come to the Amarok, read its fault codes and save the original software before writing the new map. A remap costs £275 + VAT, whether it's for towing, everyday pull or economy, and most pickups are done in 60 to 90 minutes.
If a fault turns up, we tell you first and won't map until it's dealt with. Running a few pickups? Our van remapping page and trade accounts cover fleets.
Will a remap help my Amarok with a full load or towing?
That's where most owners feel it. The extra torque arrives at lower revs, so the Amarok pulls away and climbs with less fuss when it's heavy.
Can a remap improve my Amarok's mpg?
An economy map can help on a pickup that covers long distances at steady speeds. The result depends on the load and the routes, so we don't promise a number.
Should faults be fixed before the Amarok is remapped?
Yes. Mapping over a sensor or DPF fault hides the problem and can stop the map doing its job, so faults come first.
Can a remap cause problems on an Amarok?
Not on a healthy engine with a properly written map. We check codes before and after, and the Amarok's original file is stored so nothing is lost.
