DPF cleaning for Ford

Ford's exhaust filter, or DPF, burns its soot off in regenerations that need heat and a steady run to finish. Short trips, a sensor fault, a sticking EGR valve or injector trouble can leave each regeneration half done, and the filter gradually clogs.

Vans that idle on site and stop and start all day are hard on DPFs, and that includes plenty of Transits and Rangers. Where software work is needed on a 2018-on model with the locked Ford SID212 ECU, the ECU is sent off to be unlocked and programmed, taking 7 days and costing £1,200 + VAT.

Why do DPFs block on diesel Ford models?

The same reasons as any diesel. Regenerations get cut short by short journeys and idling, and faults with sensors, the EGR or injectors add soot faster than the filter can clear it.

Can you delete the DPF on a Ford?
