DPF cleaning for BMW
The particulate filter traps soot and burns it off during a regeneration, which needs a good run at steady speed. Lots of short journeys, a faulty pressure sensor or an EGR problem can stop that happening, and the light comes on as the filter fills.
BMW's N47 diesel, fitted to many BMW and MINI models, is a common candidate for EGR work, and a struggling EGR adds soot to the filter. That's why we read the codes and the back pressure readings before cleaning, so the cause gets dealt with as well as the symptom.

Can you clean the DPF on any BMW diesel?
Most of them, as long as the filter is blocked with soot and isn't cracked or full of ash. We check the readings first so you don't pay for a clean that won't help.
How much is DPF cleaning for a BMW?

What does the DPF warning mean on a BMW?
