What DPF cleaning changes on the Passat
A blocked filter brings on the particulate filter warning light and can leave the Passat short of power. The clean breaks down the packed soot with a solution and burns it off with a forced regeneration.
Once the filter is clear, the light goes out and the car can carry out its own regenerations again on longer runs.
Is it worth it on a Passat?
For a diesel Passat, including B6 models, cleaning is the sensible first step. It costs far less than a replacement and sorts most soot blockages, and our readings confirm it'll work before we start.
Ash and cracks are the exceptions. A filter with either needs replacing at a garage.
