DPF cleaning for Audi

A diesel Audi's particulate filter clears itself through regeneration, which needs the exhaust to run hot for a while. Short trips, a failing pressure sensor, EGR or injector faults and oil getting into the exhaust can all leave it half-cleared, and the soot keeps building.

We read the codes and filter readings first so we know the DPF is the real problem. Then a cleaning solution goes in and a forced regeneration burns the deposits out.

Why do DPFs block on diesel Audi models?

Mostly because regenerations don't get the chance to finish. Town use, short journeys and faults with sensors, the EGR or injectors all add soot faster than the filter can burn it. Our blocked DPF guide has more.

Can you delete the DPF on an Audi?

Yes, for £220 + VAT, but only on cars used off-road or exported. Removing a DPF from a road car is illegal and will fail the MOT, as our DPF removal guide explains.

Can you clean it at my workplace?

Yes, as long as the car is somewhere safe to run the engine for a forced regeneration. A work car park is fine, and most cleans take 60 to 90 minutes.
