What an EGR delete changes on the A4
The delete shuts the EGR off in the ECU, so exhaust gas no longer goes back into the intake and the stuck valve stops causing trouble. Its fault codes are cleared at the same time.
It applies to TDI A4s, including B8 models. If your A4 is a 1.9 TDI with oil around the EGR valve, tell us when you book so we can look at it during the visit.
Is it worth it on an A4?
A delete avoids paying for a new valve that could clog up again. If you'd rather replace the valve, diagnosing first means you buy the right part.
If the problem turns out to be wiring or a sensor, that's often a cheaper repair than the valve itself.
EGR delete or a new valve for my A4?
A new valve fitted by a garage keeps the original system working, while the £220 + VAT delete stops the EGR causing problems again. Diagnostics first shows whether the valve is really at fault.
Is an A4 EGR delete legal?

Can the EGR and DPF be deleted together on an A4?

Will a new valve clog again on an A4?
It can, given time, because the gas passing through it still carries soot and oil vapour. Lots of short trips speed that up.
