Audi AdBlue problems and delete
An AdBlue fault on an Audi can bring up a countdown, and once that reaches zero the engine won't restart. We read the codes where the car is parked and can delete the AdBlue system for £330 + VAT.
AdBlue for Audi
The AdBlue system on a diesel Audi relies on a pump, a heater, NOx sensors and an injector, and any of them can fail. Dried fluid can also crystallise and block the injector, which brings up the same warning.
The warning on its own doesn't say which part is to blame, so we start with diagnostics. For a repair, the part then needs replacing by a dealer or SCR specialist, since we don't repair AdBlue systems.
Warnings and signs
- An AdBlue warning light or "AdBlue system fault" style message, if your Audi shows one
- A countdown showing how many miles until the engine won't restart
- The warning coming back after a top-up or a code clear
- The engine management light lit with the AdBlue warning
- NOx sensor faults stored in the ECU

How much is an AdBlue delete on an Audi?
The delete is £330 + VAT, done at your home or workplace. It turns the system off in the ECU, clears the AdBlue codes and stops the countdown.
Is an AdBlue delete legal?
Not for an Audi used on UK roads, where it breaks the emissions rules and can lead to an MOT failure. It's for off-road and export use only, and our guide to AdBlue delete law explains why.
Why is my Audi's AdBlue light still on after filling?
Fresh fluid only fixes a warning caused by a low tank. A light that stays on means a fault has been logged, often with the pump, heater or a NOx sensor, and the codes will show which. Our NOx sensor guide covers one of the common causes.
