Jaguar XF DPF problems and cleaning
A DPF warning on an XF, especially a red "DPF full" message, means the filter has reached the point where it can't clear itself. We read the codes on your driveway or at work and clean the filter in place for £275 + VAT.

Why the XF's filter blocks
A diesel XF needs regular spells of steady running for the DPF to burn off its soot. Lots of short journeys interrupt those regenerations, and the soot load climbs until the warning appears.
A sticking EGR valve, a weak injector or a faulty pressure sensor can also add soot or stop regenerations from running, which is why we check the readings rather than just cleaning.
What we do about it
A diagnostic check for £100 + VAT shows whether soot, ash or a sensor is behind the warning. If it's soot, we clean the XF's filter with it still fitted for £275 + VAT, using a cleaning solution and a forced regeneration.
If the filter is beyond saving, the DPF delete is £220 + VAT.
Why does my XF's DPF keep blocking?
Mostly because the regenerations don't get the chance to finish. If it blocks again soon after being cleaned, an EGR, injector or sensor fault is usually the reason.
What does the DPF warning mean on an XF?
The ECU has worked out that the filter is close to full. A red full warning is more serious than the amber light, so book a check before using the car much further.
Can I keep using my XF with the DPF light on?
With an amber light, a long steady run may help if it has only just appeared. With a red warning or limp mode, keep use to a minimum until the filter is seen to.
Will a forced regeneration clear the XF's filter?
Possibly, if the soot level is modest. When it's packed hard, a regeneration often fails part way, so we add a cleaning solution first.
Is a DPF delete an option on a Jaguar XF?
Only for an XF kept off-road or being prepared for export, as a delete isn't legal on a road car. Our guide to DPF removal explains the law.
