Car remapping across Lancashire
Every remap we carry out across Lancashire starts with a fault check and a saved copy of your original software. That way you know the engine is healthy before anything is changed, and the factory file is kept safe. Stage 1, Stage 2, economy and van maps are £275 + VAT, done at your home or workplace.
What we check before remapping in Lancashire
A full fault code read
The technician plugs into the ECU and looks for stored faults first, since a remap can't put right an engine that already has a problem.
Your original software saved
The factory file is read off the ECU and kept, so there's always a copy of how the car left the manufacturer.
The new map written
Only once the checks are clear does the chosen map go on, whether that's Stage 1, Stage 2, economy or a van map.
Final checks and a handover
We start the engine, look for any new codes and explain to you what the remap has changed.
Lancashire towns with their own remapping page
We remap cars and vans across Lancashire, and three towns have a page of their own with local details.
Choosing a remap for how you use the car
For a car with a standard engine, a Stage 1 remap is the usual choice and gives a stronger, more responsive pull without any hardware changes. A Stage 2 remap only makes sense once parts like the intercooler, intake or exhaust have been upgraded.
Company cars covering big miles each year often get more from an economy remap, which leans the map towards mpg. Vans carrying weight or pulling a trailer suit a van remap with extra torque low in the rev range. All four cost £275 + VAT.
Vans and work vehicles in Lancashire
We remap vans at yards, depots and work sites across Lancashire, fitting the visit in between jobs so the van isn't stood idle for long. Where a business has several vans, we'll try to map them on one visit.
Many 2018-on Ford Transit, Transit Custom and Ranger models run a locked SID212 ECU. We remove it, have it unlocked and remapped off site, and refit it within 7 days for £1,200 + VAT. Our Ford SID212 guide explains more, and fleets can open a trade account.
Why book SGR in Lancashire
Insured to £2 million
Our policy covers remaps carried out on driveways, at workplaces and in yards up to £2 million.
Checks before any mapping
Fault codes are read and the original file saved on every visit, before a new map is written.
Straight advice on faults
If the fault check turns up a problem a remap won't help with, we'll tell you before going any further.
Is remapping safe for my engine?
Mapping over a fault that's already there is the main thing to avoid, so we read the codes first and hold off if something's wrong. Our guide on whether remapping is worth it answers the common safety questions.
Can my car go back to standard later?
Yes. Your factory software is copied and kept before any mapping, which means the car can be put back to how it left the manufacturer. Restoring the original map costs extra, and we can quote it up front.
Will a remap affect my manufacturer warranty?
It can. A manufacturer may refuse a claim on parts linked to the engine or gearbox once a remap is found, so check your warranty terms before booking.
Can you remap a Transit or Ranger with the SID212 ECU?
Yes. The SID212 ECU is unlocked and remapped off site, taking 7 days and costing £1,200 + VAT all in. Older Fords without it are mapped on site anywhere we cover in Lancashire.
What happens if the fault check finds a problem?
We'll stop and explain what the codes show before mapping. A diagnostic check is £100 + VAT if the fault needs tracking down, and the remap can go ahead once it's fixed.
