Ford Transit AdBlue problems and delete
An AdBlue delete on a Ford Transit costs £330 + VAT, and a diagnostic check to pin down the failed part is £100 + VAT. Send us the registration and you'll have a price before we come out.
Your options for the Transit
| AdBlue delete | Dealer or SCR specialist repair | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | £330 + VAT | Dealer quote; not a service we offer |
| Where | At your yard, depot or home | At the dealer or specialist's workshop |
Not sure which part has gone? Our diagnostics visit reads the stored codes and live data for £100 + VAT, so you can compare the two routes with the fault in front of you.
What an AdBlue delete changes on the Transit
If your Transit is showing "AdBlue system malfunction, service required", the ECU no longer trusts the SCR system and will usually start counting down to a no-restart. The delete turns AdBlue dosing and monitoring off in the software.
After that, a failed pump, heater or NOx sensor can't bring the warning back, the countdown is gone and there's no more AdBlue to buy for that van.
Transits with the SID212 ECU
A lot of 2018-on Transits run on a locked Ford SID212 ECU, which is unlocked off site rather than at your premises. The van is back with you in 7 days, for £1,200 + VAT. Our SID212 AdBlue delete page covers those vans, and the SID212 tuning guide explains what the lock is.
Is it worth it on a Transit?
The fixed £330 + VAT often comes in under a dealer's price for a new pump, heater or tank on a Transit, and we'll ask how your van is used before booking it in.
Diagnostics first means you know which part has actually failed before you compare the two routes.
AdBlue delete or a dealer repair for my Transit?
It depends how the van is used, so tell us when you get in touch. Our diagnostics show which part has failed, so you can weigh the dealer quote against the delete.
Is a Transit AdBlue delete legal?
Only when the van is used off-road or exported. Disabling AdBlue on a Transit used on UK roads is illegal and can come to light at a roadside check or in an emissions test. Our guide to whether an AdBlue delete is legal sets out the rules.
What does the £330 + VAT cover?
The visit to your yard, depot or home, a fault code read, the AdBlue system switched off in the ECU and the stored SCR codes cleared. Before we go, we look over the dash with you to confirm the warnings are clear.
Will the delete stop the countdown?
Yes. With AdBlue monitoring switched off, the no-restart countdown is removed along with the warning, and if your Transit has already reached zero, say so when you book so we know it can't be moved.

Send the registration and the message on the dash, and we'll confirm the cost and a time to visit. All our prices are on the pricing page, and the Ford AdBlue page covers the rest of the range, including the Transit Custom and Ranger.
